It is my privilege to welcome you to the 3rd International Conference on Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani Medicine (ICAUS 2026),
hosted by the Postgraduate Institute of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo (PGIIM).
This year’s theme, Innovating Indigenous Medicine: From Tradition to Transformation,
reflects the critical journey that indigenous medical systems must undertake; preserving the wisdom of our classical
traditions while embracing scientific validation, clinical competence, and global standards.
PGIIM stands unique as Sri Lanka’s premier institute for postgraduate education in indigenous medicine.
We are not only custodians of tradition, but also architects of its future. Through structured postgraduate programmes,
research, and competency-based training, PGIIM is nurturing a new generation of indigenous medical professionals equipped
to serve as competent healthcare providers within the national health system.
This conference provides a valuable platform for scholars, clinicians, researchers, and policymakers to engage in dialogue,
foster collaboration, and promote innovation. I invite you to share your research, exchange ideas, and contribute to advancing
indigenous medicine from cultural heritage to evidence-based healthcare.
Let us join together to ensure that Ayurveda, Siddha, and Unani medicine take their rightful place in global healthcare.
